Keep the water and smoke boxes empty with the vent open, then power up the smoker and run it at 275°F for 2 hours. After this, allow the smoker to cool down before use. It's normal to experience some oil smoke and odors during the initial heating, but these should largely dissipate after the high-temperature operation.

The smoker features a side wood chip loader, allowing for continuous smoking for 2-3 hours without opening the door.
